North
Idaho College http://www.nic.edu/
(NIC), in conjunction with Idaho POST, has established a program that will
allow peace officers in the state of Idaho to obtain an Associate of
Applied Science (AAS) Degree without having to attend two years of college.
This program will give the officer college credit for attending the POST
Basic Academy. The officer will also be given college credit for six
months of full-time law enforcement service by completing the FTO training
program.
Students
who successfully complete or challenge the POST Basic Academy may receive
credit for LAWE 219-228 at no cost once enrolled at NIC. Students who
have successfully completed the POST Basic Academy and have been continuously
employed as a full-time law enforcement officer for more than six consecutive
months may also be granted credit for the internship sequence, LAWE 290
and 293, at no cost once enrolled at NIC.
Some
courses are available through Distance Education: Internet (INT) or interactive
video-conferencing (IVC) delivery. IVC courses are delivered to high
