Please review IDAPA 11.11.01.50-58 (section 50 pg 12 through 58 pg 15)

These sections pertain to minimum standards for employment for Communications Officers.

To be eligible for certification: communication officers must be a U.S. citizen; submit a copy of their high school diploma, GED or official college transcript reflecting 15 academic credits to POST; have 2 years responsible work experience; meet the standards of the POST character requirement; submit fingerprints to POST and have a clear criminal background, military and driving record.

Other than physical requirements and fitness, Communications is held to the same hiring standards as Patrol and Detention. 

If you have a criminal record, traffic violations or discharge from the military under a classification other than honorable you may be eligible for a waiver.
