Navigating the POST Web Site
http://www.idaho-post.org

Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy

We hope we have laid out our web site so you can find information quickly and navigate between web pages easily.
We always welcome comments and suggestions to make this a more useful web site for you.
Please contact us through our Postmaster web page at http://www.idaho-post.org/Questions/Postmaster.html.

Notice that a Questions button appears at the top of most of our web pages. This takes you directly to our Postmaster web page and allows you to send questions from several places on our web site. Even if you are uncertain where you might direct your questions, just click on the Questions button and select a main group from the list shown. Your questions and comments will be automatically directed to more than one person, including our Postmaster who reviews electronic correspondence each business day. Thank you. Welcome to POST!

TEMPLATES

An introduction to our templates might be a good place to start. We use three main templates for creating most of our web pages and a couple of minor templates for ‘special’ web pages. Our three main templates all display the navigation bar (navbar) along the left side of your screen and the usual web page links at the very bottom of your screen. However, they display different things along the top area of your screen.

1- General
Information
Template

OPR

Because our energies at POST are directed into four main areas, our general information template displays icons to quickly access these areas: Academies, Certification, In-Service Training, and the Office of Professional Responsibility.

Click on the Academies icon, from any web page using our general information template, to go to our main Academies web page http://www.idaho-post.org/academies/academies.html

Click on the Certifications icon, from any web page using our general information template, to go to our main Certifications web page http://www.idaho-post.org/certifications/Certifications.html

2- Academies
Template

CDs

If you click on the Academies icon, you will access a collection of web pages pertaining to our many academies. Our academies web pages use our second main template - our academies template that displays three general areas pertaining to most academies: Academy Coordinators, Self-Sponsored Students, and Academy Calendar.

Click on the Academy Coordinators icon, from any web page using our academies template, to go to our web page introducing POST staff associated with academies. This is a good page for individual contact information including e-mail links. Our academy staff is housed in the new Correction Training building (building 8) on the POST-Idaho State Police campus in Meridian. http://www.idaho-post.org/Staff/CoordinatorsA.html

Click on the Self-Sponsored Students icon, from any web page using our academies template, to go to our web page with information on paying your own way to attend an academy. Most cadets are agency-sponsored but a few cadets each year are selected to attend academies as self-sponsored students. http://www.idaho-post.org/SSStudents/SS_Student.html

Click on the Academy Calendar icon, from any web page using our academies template, to go to our web page listing all dates for all academies at POST for the calendar year. http://www.idaho-post.org/academies/ACalendar.html

CDs
Click on the CD Training icon, from any web page using our academies template, to go to our web page listing details and links regarding CD Training at POST. http://www.idaho-post.org/academies/CDTraining.htm

3- In-Service
Training
Template

Reg4

If you click on the In-Service Training icon, you will access a collection of web pages pertaining to our many In-Service Training web pages. These web pages use our third main template, our in-service training template.

POST is currently divided into three regions for coordination of in-service training. The first region is in north Idaho, the second in southwest Idaho, and the third in southeast Idaho. In-service training also includes many established courses where officers earn specific certification including training for DARE, DRE, K9 Teams, Marine Deputies, and Reserves. This area also includes specialty training such as EVOC, Multidisciplinary Teams, and School Resource Officers.

Click on the Region 1 icon, from any web page using our in-service template, to go to our main Region 1 web page http://www.idaho-post.org/Reg1/Reg1home.html

Click on the Region 2 icon, from any web page using our in-service template, to go to our main Region 2 web page http://www.idaho-post.org/Reg2/Reg2home.html

Click on the Region 3 icon, from any web page using our in-service template, to go to our main Region 3 web page http://www.idaho-post.org/Reg3/Reg3home.html

NAVBAR

Enough about templates! Let’s take a look at our navigation bar (navbar) located at the left side of your screens on all web pages that use any template. The navbar is composed of two tiers. The first tier is always visible from our main web pages. The second tier, that takes you to related links, is displayed to the immediate right of the first column when you let your mouse pointer hover over a button.
