Marcy Chadwell

Hi! My name is Marcy Chadwell. I am the Training Specialist hired by Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections to coordinate the Juvenile Detention and Probation Academies at POST. I am responsible for the coordination of curriculum, lesson plans, instructor assignment, and overall supervision of each two-week, tri-annual academy. These academies, though not as intensive as POST Basic Academies, are specifically designed to assist juvenile probation and detention officers in raising the bar of professionalism in their area f expertise. I spent most of my life in Colorado, earned a B.S.W. from the University of Southern Colorado.  I am currently a Licensed Social Worker, as well as a POST Certified Instructor.  In 1994, I became employed with Ada County Juvenile Court as a juvenile detention officer. I transferred to the probation department in 1996.  From 1998-2001, I supervised the West Ada County Juvenile Field Probation Unit, covering the areas of Meridian, Kuna, Eagle, and Garden City. Those areas included three outreach offices in Meridian, Kuna, and Garden City.  In 2002, I accepted a Juvenile Court Services Assistant Manager position, with the specific duties of program development, probation standards development, and supervising ACJCS Field Probation Unit.  In late March 2003, I accepted my current position with POST Academy. Since that time, I have coordinated 6 juvenile detention academies and four probation academies, as well as coordinating a Challenge process for the probation academies.  Additionally, I am the assigned coordinator for the POST Academy Career Camp.  This course is a weeklong training for junior and senior high school students interested in the area of law enforcement and corrections.  I am the mother and stepmother of five, widow of a Sheriff’s Deputy, as well as a Grandmother of a two year old, and brand new baby, both boys!
