“A Cop’s on the Take!”

First they take … the Oath.

Now look at what else s/he takes:

S/he takes … it in stride when people call them pigs.

S/he takes … their lousy paycheck realizing they’ll never be rich.

S/he takes … a second job sometimes to make ends meet and support

                        the family.

S/he takes … time to stop and talk to children.

S/he takes … your verbal abuse while giving you a ticket you really

                        deserved.

S/he takes … on creeps you would be afraid to even look at.

S/he takes … time away from their family to keep you safe.

S/he takes … your injured child to the hospital.

S/he takes … the graveyard shift without complaint because it’s their

                        turn.

S/he takes … their life in their hands daily.

S/he takes … you home when your car breaks down.

S/he takes … time to explain why both your headlights have to work.

S/he takes … the job no one else wants – telling you a loved one has

                       died.

S/he takes … criminals to jail.

S/he takes … in sights that would make you cry. Sometimes they cry

too, but they take it anyway because someone has to.

S/he takes … memories to bed each night that you couldn’t bear for

                        even one day.

S/he takes … time to explain to their family why they can’t make the

ball game their child is in and why they have to work on

the holiday when other parents are off.

S/he takes … sometimes…takes a bullet.

S/he takes … if they are lucky…takes retirement.

Then one day they pay for all they have taken…and hopefully…,God takes them.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

Have you thanked a cop lately? Try it.

When you see a cop in the super market, standing in line in a cafeteria,

shopping at Wal-Mart, or anywhere else. Try it. It will make the cop’s

day, it will certainly be a blessing to you also.
