Methamphetmine Investigations Course

Description:

This course is designed to equip officers with the knowledge to conduct methamphetamine investigations.  Beginning with the history of methamphetamine through current trends, including a section on meth trade in Mexico.   The main body of the class will address how to perform methamphetamine investigations whether the targets are traffickers or local producers/distributors. Instruction on the methods required to conduct precursor/chemical diversion cases; surveillance techniques; undercover operations; building conspiracy cases; proper methods of performing reversals; interdiction techniques; dealing with informants, how to write an effective search warrant; working crimes related to methamphetamine and more.

The conclusion of the course will address tactical considerations; supervisory concerns; developing standard operating policy; effective courtroom testimony techniques; and developing legislation to aid enforcement. The skills taught in this class, while focused on methamphetamine, can be employed to other areas of drug enforcement as well.
