Welcome to Safer Communities Through Partnerships!

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for participating in a very special and remarkable conference.

The Idaho Crime Prevention Association is 25 years old this year. We are extremely proud of our Association, of what it has been able to accomplish this past quarter century.

We, as an Association representing the great state of Idaho, are nationally recognized leaders in Crime Prevention.  We provide resources and training to public and private organizations across the state. Many of our members are recognized nationally and participate in strategic planning and training at regional and national levels.

We are honored to partner with the Governor’s Children at Risk Task Force and Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training, POST, to make this conference possible.  Our hope is that by forming these partnerships early in the 21st Century, we will develop initiatives that will carry on into the future to make our communities safer -- starting with our focus in this conference, our children.

We know your enthusiasm will be kindled as you listen to speakers, attend workshops, and begin to see how this is not just one agency’s or organization’s challenge, but a collective effort with partners working together towards common goals.  Working in concert, we can develop initiatives to better use limited funding available, to reduce redundancy, to make this great state of ours a wonderful place to raise families. We want to help families feel safe and secure, to promote an environment where families thrive.

Again thanks for coming.  We need you.  We are glad you are here!

Larry V. McGhee
ICPA President, October 2006
