Blair Olsen began his career in law enforcement in 1975 at the age of 18. He climbed up through the ranks becoming Patrol Sgt. & Detective in 1979 and Chief Deputy in 1985. Blair was elected Sheriff of Jefferson County in 1988. He has been active in the Idaho Sheriff’s Association (ISA), the National Sheriff’s Association, and Idaho Association of Counties. He is a past president of the Tri-County Sheriff’s Association and has been a member of the 7th District Juvenile Justice Council. Sheriff Olsen served at the State Juvenile Correction Center by sitting on the Committee for Juvenile Releases. He has served as President of the Idaho Sheriff’s Association after which, he served 9 years on the Board of Directors. In 2003 he was appointed as Region VII Representative to the Idaho Council on Domestic Violence and Victim Assistance, and in 2004 appointed to the Idaho Medal of Honor Commission by Governor Kempthorne. He currently serves on the Idaho Sheriff’s Association Civil Process Committee, Vice Chairman of the ISA Jail Standards Committee and was appointed to P.O.S.T. Council in July of 2006.
