LARRY W. CALLICUTT, DIRECTOR

IDAHO DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE CORRECTIONS

Larry W. Callicutt was appointed Director of Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections by Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter on January 1, 2007. Director Callicutt oversees the Department’s current juvenile institutions in St. Anthony, Nampa, and Lewiston; over 24 contract providers; as well as six district offices, Boise headquarters, and fiscal services in Meridian. The Department is made up of approximately 355 employees and serves about 800 juveniles a year.

Director Callicutt is a Certified Corrections Executive as affirmed by the American Correctional Association. During the eleven years he has been with the Department, he has served as a District Liaison, Statewide Placement Specialist, and as Superintendent at all three state juvenile institutions. He also was part of a compliance monitoring team that monitored Idaho juvenile detention centers for compliance with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s core requirements.

Prior to working for the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, Director Callicutt served as a law enforcement officer in Bingham County, Idaho. He was Chief Deputy Sheriff of Bingham County as well as a Juvenile Officer for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes at Fort Hall, and Juvenile Officer for the Blackfoot Police Department. He attained the status of Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training certified instructor, and achieved Management Level Certification. Director Callicutt has also been utilized as a Juvenile Justice Consultant through the National Juvenile Detention Association on several occasions. Director Callicutt has served more than 27 years in public service at the city, tribal, county, state, and federal levels. Director Callicutt served proudly in the United States Air Force, and is a Vietnam Veteran.
