Due to current budget constraints, POST Academy will not be hosting a 2010 Career Camp. Future POST Academy Career Camps will be decided upon at a later date.

CAUTION : Career Camp is not for wimps! You'll be up at dawn every day for physical training. You'll spend part of each day in classrooms, on field trips, or seeing special demonstrations. By the time you finish the week on Friday, you will have put in over 60 hours of strenuous activities checking out careers in police work. You'll learn about Corrections, Probation and Parole, Adult and Juvenile Detention, and other state and federal agencies, including the Treasury Department and the FBI!

The 2009 Law Enforcement Career Camp is sponsored by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards & Training Academy. POST hosts in-service and basic training for Peace Officers throughout the state. The Career Camp is specifically designed for High School Juniors and Seniors who are interested in careers in Criminal Justice. Young men and women with such desire are strongly urged to apply! Check it out! See if it's something you'd like to do! If you're accepted to attend the Career Camp, you'll enjoy a week packed full of information and introductions to the many career opportunities in the Criminal Justice Field. Here's what you'll do:

  • Classes on Law Enforcement
  • Fingerprinting
  • Arrest Techniques
  • Human Relations
  • Crime Prevention
  • Traffic Stops
  • Physical Training

Demonstrations:

  • Bike Patrol
  • Police Dogs
  • Motorcycle Patrol

A total immersion program! Your day begins at 6:30 AM and runs until after 8:00 PM!

If you meet the following criteria -- this may be just the thing for you

  • No criminal record
  • Capable of strenuous exercise
  • Good student (C or better)

Cost for the week is $175.00  - Room and Board included!

(So are handouts, shirts, and a hat!)
